My Idea
I have chosen to look at 'Children and the Media' focusing on 'The gender representation of children in advertising'.
I will look at how the different genders are stereotyped through advertising aimed at children. For example girls are seen as subdued and involved in calm play, whereas boys are adventurous and are more active and involved in agressive play.
I will look at how advertisers create these stereotypes through the way in whihc the advert is constructed, e.g music, camera shots and angles and the content of the advert.
For my research i will show a number at adverts (some aimed at males others at females) to children and ask them to distinguish whihc gender the advert is aimed at and why this is.
